Manya’s Bday I

Looks like Jeff got at the painter’s tape again.  This one will be for Manya’s 50th on Art Walk night.  Come on by and give her a smack on the cheek!

(Jeff says that the wind is so cold today that he has to heat the glass with his fingertips to make the tape stick….)

Murals Patrons Wine & Cheese Tour

Check out Jeanie Blair’s snazzy slideshow of the Edmonds Mural Society’s 2012 Patrons Wine & Cheese Tour of the murals!

Marsha Lippert, pastelist

NW pastelist Marsha Lippert will be exhibiting at Interiors of Edmonds in  September’s art walk.

Don’t know what pastels are?  They’re like colored chalk on steroids.  So, when looking at a pastels painting, be sure to enjoy all of her chalkwork.  (Just as we look closely at a painter’s brushwork in, say, an oil painting.)

Be sure to stop by and say hello to Marsha that night!

Vin Notes at September Art Walk

The extremely charming and talented Vin Notes are playing Edmonds Art Walk in September.  They’ll be at the ImageHistorical Museum.  Check them out that evening!

Thrown Tomatoes?

I just spoke this morning at a Chamber breakfast about the story of the Art Walk and the Mural Society and how they came to be.

A few lines resonated.  One in particular, I remember.  I saw many pairs of eyes grow quite thoughtful when I said…

There are so many things to work toward in life.  Take money, for example.  To spend your life acquiring as much money as you can.  Or power, influence.  To work all your life gathering so much power that you have so many reins in your hands with which to dictate to others.  Or celebrity.  To chase fame surrounding your name and making it the toast of the town.

As attractive as these are, how much more attractive to decide to spend your life making this spot of the globe, our spot, just that much more beautiful.

A place to walk, to talk, to sit, with your family, your friends, your children, your pets, your neighbors, your cousins and behold this gem of a city that we have all created together.

Interestingly, telling the story of how the Art Walk and Mural Society developed is increasingly becoming part of what we do.  If you would like me to speak to a community group, service organization or your church, just ask!

I really enjoy meeting people who care so much about the community like that.
